Cider has been part of Bowens Mills since the beginning. It’s a perennial favorite amongst visitors, many of whom travel miles to sip the full flavor of Bowens Mills apple cider.
Cider season, September to October
Cider season here in Yankee Springs runs from September to October, and watching how they produce this delicious drink is as satisfying as sipping it from a cold bottle.
Family friendly outing
The Bowens Mills cider mill has increased dramatically in popularity over the years, since a visit here is fun and educational.
Second generation cider mill
Bowens Mills‘ cider mill is now operated by the second generation. The old press still faithfully performs its duty for bystanders to observe.
Experience cider making up close
Bring your family for a tour of the cider making process. Experience it up close. Smell the apples as they are pressed on the press that’s been in operation since 1902. It’s a great old-fashioned family tradition that we keep alive as much for you as for us.
Hot apple dumplins
A visit to Bowens exposes you to more than cider though. Enjoy a hot apple dumplin’ and watch as they grind cornmeal on the original 1864 corn grinder. Afterwards take a ride on a cart drawn by Belgian draft horses. Then grab a fresh cider—by the glass or by the gallon—at the The Miller’s Wife Store.
